Meet Cody Tetzloff, he is going into his freshman year of college this fall at Cal State East Bay.
One day I recieved a phone call from his mother asking me to work with her son who is going to be a college baseball player. Because Cody has been playing all 4 years of high school all year round, he was starting to get burnt out.
His mother's motivation for contacting me was to keep her son interested in baseball and get him motivated again before he moves away to college.
For those of you who know me I played minor league baseball and wrote my thesis on athletic training. Coincidentally, Cody plays the same position I played in college. So I was excited to train him because I played the position and that I knew how I was going to train him.

While I was working with Cody, I told him my experience playing college baseball and playing over seas. I shared with him that he only has 5 years of his playing career left.
For most college athletes that if they don't get drafted or sign with an independent team that their playing career is over.
In most sports 25 years old is considered old age. Most professional teams like to draft kids between the ages of 18-23 years old.
I told him that he only has a few good years left so he should make the best of his playing career and train as hard as he can before he has to get a regular job like the rest of us.
I'll admit I miss playing baseball in front of 1,000 screaming fans. There is no other feeling in the world than playing a sport you love. I cherished every moment of it and never had regrets. And that's what I told Cody. Train hard with no regrets.
So the message I want to leave you today is this...God gave us one body so take care of it. Don't look back and have regrets and wished you tried harder. You can never fail at anything as long as you tried your best. Failure only happens when you give up. So don't give up on yourself.
If you belong to a gym or have a fitness trainer, then take advantage of the oppurtunity and train as hard as you can.
There are a bunch of people in this world that would love to have a personal trainer or even belong to a gym, but can't afford it. So don't take it for granted. Get serious about your health today and get started on a fitness program today.
