In this video blog post, Martinez personal training client Erika Zunon reveals her secret to her weight loss success.
Before Erika lost 65 pounds, 51 total inches, & 21% body fat she was working out on her own 5 days a week in a big box gym and trying to lose weight on her own like most people.
While she was working out on her own she didn't have any knowledge or proper game plan on how she was going to lose the weight. She just went into the gym and just did the same exercise day in and day out like most people do.
When she felt she was going in the right path, for some reason she would get unmotivated and fall back into the bad habits of not being consistent with her workouts or eating unhealthy.
Erika was also not surrounding herself around positive people. She wasn't getting the morale support that she needed to achieve her weight loss goals.
This is what Erika did to change all that:
1) Surround yourself around positive people-every single person that is trying to stay motivated should be around other positive people who will support you through the whole weight loss process. I know it's hard enough to lose weight on your own so make it easier on yourself get around positive people that will help keep you motivated. (Below is a group picture of some women in our weight loss program who attended our client appreciation party.)

2) Train with people that want the same goals as you-nothing feels better than training and surrounding yourself with like minded individuals that have the same wants and goals as you do. When you workout with other people that have the same goal as you, makes the atmosphere for everyone to succeed. It's almost impossible to fail when everyone is pushing and motivating you along the way.(Erika actually started a running group on the weekdays and weekends with the rest of our clients who want the extra exercise. Below is a picture of her running group)

3) Get rid of negative people in your life-now I'm not saying drop your friends and family, but limit the amount of time with these people if they are putting you down, telling you that you should quit because it's a waste of time, that it's too much money, etc...I think you know where I'm going with this one. Just recognize the fact that the closest people in your life will sabotage your success without realizing what they are doing. Let their negative comments go in the ear and out the other.
You know what's best for you and only you know that. Listen to your gut, it's always 100% right!
