Medicine balls are not expensive and are great for total body and core workouts. Today Jenn will be demonstrating three of our East Bay medicine ball exercise routines.
Here are our top 3 medicine ball workouts you can do in the comfort of your home:
- Squat Press/Overhead Squat
- Lunge w/ rotation
- Soccer Slams/Overhead Ball Slams
All three exercises are great for targeting your core at various planes of motion. Because most of us do sit ups and crunches, you are only targeting your abs in one plane of motion. With a medicine ball you can do twisting motions from side to side or in a diagonal range of motion.
Medicine balls are also great for a full-body workouts. The three exercises that were demonstrated in the video above incorporate both upper body and lower body strength.
Most medicine ball exercises don't need to be done with a heavy ball. The only exercise demonstrated in the video that needs to be done with a heavy medicine ball is the soccer slams.
Most East Bay sporting good stores may sell medicine balls and they usually cost between $10-$40 dollars, depending how heavy the ball is.
