Fitness Strength Training for People Over 50 East Bay

Everyone knows the best way to ensure optimal health as you age is to incorporate fitness strength training on a regular basis.  But do the components of fitness workout routines change as one ages?  Nowadays, people over 50 are incorporating workouts into their daily routines.  Many even seek the help of professional exercise trainers to help ensure their routines are beneficial without leaving them prone to injury.

What, if anything different, should a person over 50 be doing in their fitness workout routines?  For starters, increasing the time spent on increasing flexibility, such as stretching is essential.  Muscle tightness increases the risk of injury, but as we age, muscle tightness can increase the risk of joint issues as well.  Devoting more time stretching those tight muscles will ensure better flexibility and reduce the risk of joint-related pain and injury.

As the body ages, the need for more recovery time after a fitness strength training session becomes necessary.  In addition, proper nutritional recovery is a beneficial adjunct.   Providing the body with the proper nutrients immediately after an intense fitness workout routine can have a huge impact on the body's ability to properly recover.  Replenishing with balanced amounts of carbohydrates, protein and electrolytes helps to repair tissue damage done by working out.

Coupled with increased recovery times, the right amount of sleep is extremely important.  Most of us try to squeak by on five to six hours a night, but that is not enough, especially if you are following fitness strength training regime regularly.  Without the proper amount of sleep, the body cannot produce enough of human growth hormone, or HGH.  The absence of HGH can seriously impede the body's ability to recover, increasing the risk of injury and overall discomfort.

Being in tune with your body and how it responds to your regular fitness workout routines can help attain better results.  Don't be too hard on yourself if you seem to need more rest than you once used to; your body is not the same.  Following a fitness strength training routine within your body's parameters, coupled with proper nutrition is a wonderful way to ensure your quality of health as you age.
