East Bay Personal Trainer Reveals 3 Simple Ways to Lose Weight

If you ask most people why they want to lose weight, chances are they will give you a fairly superficial reason, such as, "I have a class reunion coming up and I want to look good", or "I'm getting married soon and I need to look good in my dress." These certainly are motivating reasons to want to lose weight, but most people don't realize the huge impact losing even ten pounds can have on your health.
Here are 3 simple tips from your East Bay personal trainer to losing weight:
Eat More Frequently
To most of us, eating more seems counterintuitive when we want to lose weight, but its true. Eating anywhere between 4-6 times a day actually helps boost your metabolism, because your body is constantly digesting food. In addition, eating more frequently also keeps your blood sugar levels regulated, which helps keep your appetite regulated. You will not eat as much and you will be full.
Incorporating lean sources of protein such as chicken and fish with fresh vegetables can also help you lose weight as well. Foods such as these will not only help you stay fuller longer, but you will also substantially lower your caloric intake.
We all know that calorie reduction is the prime factor in losing weight, and eating frequently ensures you are full while you reduce calories. This also helps keep your energy up, as you will most likely not experience the lows in blood sugar that trigger that "crashing" feeling.
Be A Label-Reader
Know what you put into your body. Studies have shown that people who took the time to read the label of the food they are eating are more likely to make better food choices.

If your food label contains ingredients such as "high fructose corn syrup", "hydrogenated oil" or "monosodium glutamate", you want to steer clear. These ingredients sabotage the body's ability to lose weight because their chemical make-up is not well tolerated by the body. They also can contribute to higher cholesterol levels, because "hydrogenated" oils are trans fats.
Ditch Your Soda
A sure-fire way to reduce calories when trying to lose weight is to ditch the soda. Yes, that includes diet soda as well. These beverages do nothing to effectively hydrate your body, and they add chemicals to it that you would be better off without.
Substituting sodas with water and unsweetened tea is the best source of hydration. Hydration is vital for cell regeneration and helping the body flush out toxins. Why add more toxins?
If you are accustomed to years of poor eating habits, change won't come overnight. By incorporating one small step at a time, your chances of creating healthier habits are higher. By being more conscientious of your food and beverage intake, the road to weight loss can be a smooth one. Small steps such as adding a serving of vegetables to your lunch and dinner can make a huge and healthy impact.
If you break the task of overhauling your habits down to smaller steps, the overall change won't seem so daunting, and your body will yield immediate results.
